THE AMAZING MR BLUNDEN - SKY
We (Nipple - animation) were approached by Adorable Media to create an animation for their Christmas commission from Sky. It was a remake of the 1972 classic film ‘The Amazing Mr Blunden’. Written and directed by Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, The League of Gentlemen), he wanted a Victorian toy theatre sequence to replace a dream sequence in the original film. When broadcast, it was one of Sky’s big Christmas events.
BUNNY AND THE BULL - wARP FILMS
Collaborating with director Paul King (Paddington, Wonka) on his first feature ‘Bunny and the Bull’. A surreal road trip set from within a man’s flat. We were asked to create back projections and also the horse race for this sequence. Interestingly, the original Paddington TV series was one of the references for the style…hence the pen & ink style. I had to paint the elements separately as the horses and environments were later constructed in After Effects.
ROb THE FROG - ZOOS VICTORIA
We (Nipple - animation) were contacted by Zoos Victoria, Australia, to create an animation, in the style of our work on The Mighty Boosh, to draw attention to ‘Rob’ the Southern Corroboree frogs plight in the wild. It was released on Valentines Day (to help Rob find love), and to raise money for the work that they’re doing.
NOEL FIELDING'S LUXURY COMEDY - CHANNEL 4
I created all of the painted elements in this animation from ‘Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy’ series 1. Some of the characters were based on drawings from Noel himself, but realised by me in acrylic, along with all of the other bits.
Here's a page of other various bits I painted for the two series of the show. Again, some of the characters are based on drawings from Noel, and realised by me in acrylic, along with all the other bits and bobs..
The red & blue jungle environment played a large part in ‘Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy’ series 1 for C4. I created all of the painted elements for it, some of which are shown here in this ridiculous battle between two of the greatest Bryans/Brians.
THE MIGHTY BOOSH - BBC3
This was my 3rd series working on The Mighty Boosh. We (Nipple) were asked to do three animations. The style came from the last two series, combining painted and photographic elements. Noel designed some of the characters, and then I realised them in acrylic along with everything else. 'The Story of Howling Jimmy' appeared in the ‘Journey to the Centre of the Punk’.
'The Strange Tale of the Crackfox' from The Mighty Boosh series 3. I designed and created all of the elements, painted in acrylic.
'Peacock Dreams' appeared in ‘The Power of the Crimp’ episode in series 3 of The Mighty Boosh. Naboo recalls two TV programmes from his planet, ‘Peacock Dreams’ and ‘Magpie Moments’. Noel designed some of the characters as sketches, and then I realised them and created everything else from scratch.
'The Story of the Funk' was for the second series of The Mighty Boosh. It tells the story of how The Funk came to be. Again Noel provided some of the character designs, and then I created the rest from scratch.
